Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you BiBi

We've been holding off making a public announcement, but considering that the files containing our life story are now on their way to China, it seems safe to spread the news.

In somewhere between 2 and 5 months, Sophie will be getting a little sister, namely the cutie to the right. There's so much to tell about her that it's hard to know where to begin.

Her name is MeiBi, but everyone who knows her calls her "BiBi," a nickname which will likely stick. She's only 4 months younger than Sophie, which will make the girls virtual twins, although Sophie will probably win the tale of the tape.

BiBi has lived in an orphanage in the past, but she's currently living with a foster family, who is apparently very loving. The picture at the right was taken by someone Lisa met online who happened to be adopting a girl from the same orphanage where BiBi once lived. They arranged for BiBi to come in that day so that our new online friend could get some pictures for us and also deliver a care package from us.

Sophie's pretty excited about the whole adventure, because to her that's pretty much what it is. As far as she knows, there's a girl in China that she's going to meet, who will in all likelihood be coming home with us. I have no doubt that, like the older sister in China Ghosts, there will come a day when Sophie realizes that BiBi isn't leaving. And then, much like Jin Yu, I expect she will point a finger at her new sister and ask, "When is she going home?"

Yay! Yay! Yay! YaY! Yay! What more can I say? That's the best news I've heard since Tuesday, when a friends of mine officially became Mommy and Daddy to a little girl in Kazakhstan. Funny too, because I was thinking of you guys just a couple weeks ago and - I kid you not - thinking how awesome it would be for you to adopt a little sister for sweet Sofie. Wow. Congratulations to all four of you!

Thanks, Juds! We've been working on this a while, so it's been hard not to tell everyone we know until we were aure. Anyway, we're excited and more importantly, so is Sophie. The girl can't wait to be a big sister.

Hi there! You won't believe this but I found your blog by googling "Is Michael Stipe gay?", and read your hilarious post on that... the irony is that I mainly read infertility blogs as I am doing a 2nd IVF, so it is very interesting to me that you will have 2 adopted children. Do you have any biological children?

Thanks to everyone for their kind words. We're really excited, especially Sophie, and we'll try to keep everyone posted as the long (and boring) process goes on.
