First word! (And it's not dada)

After an evening of playing, crawling and watching NCAA basketball, Sophie hit us tonight with her first clearly spoken word. And we have Dave Attell to thank.

Attell is one of the funniest comedians around as far as I'm concerned, and he has a great bit about how cool the magician's word "ta da" is. As a result, I say "ta da" a lot, and you can probably see where this is heading.

We were playing around with a plastic cup before bed tonight, putting it on our heads and then hiding in Sophie's clothes. When we took it out and showed it to her, I punctuated it with "taaa daaa," which she then repeated back clear as day. Lisa said it again, and she said it a second time, although without the dramatic flourish.

My happiest Sophie moment so far was the third day in Wuhan where she let down her guard and played the kissy game with Lisa. But hearing "ta da" was a close second, and it's these things that make the whole experience too good to be real. (And for what it's worth, she and I had another top-5 memorable moment today when I played her first Dillon Fence song, and we spun around the kitchen dancing and exchanging high fives.)

Oh yeah, and she's crawling. Quite a day.
