The girl is in this picture is Bibi Rashida, 3. Her father was Dilawar, an Afghani taxi driver from Yakubi who was tortured and killed by American troops because he drove his taxi past an American base at the wrong time. In fact, most of his interrogators believe Dilawar to be innocent.
Sounds like the ravings of a left-wing loonie? They're not -- those are the conclusions of a 2,000-page Army report into two such deaths at the hands of American troops.
By the way, the man in the picture is the girl's grandfather, and as a future father I imagine my dad and my little girl caught in that same embrace, wondering why my family deserved this treatment. The torture wrought by America in support of its wars is this century's greatest shame.

Terrible, yes, but this centuries greatest shame? C'mon...let's try letting genocide of millions take place without intervening (or really even talking about it), or worse being a part of that genocide. Let's talk about the sale of female children into the sex trade throughout Asia.
Definitely good points -- the fact that we overlook genocides of people with different skin color than ourselves is unbelievable. To be more precise, I should have said that it's the greatest shame *pertetrated* by this country, as opposed to *allowed* by this country.
Speaking of shame, did I mention that I've had bad gas lately? I tend to let them off around Lisa without warning her first.
