There was this singer we used to go see at the coffee shops and sometimes larger places like The Cave. It was just him and a guitar, and all his songs were fun, funny, charming and amazingly well written. It was hard to believe you were hearing this guy in a bookstore and not on a double-bill with James Taylor. We would sign up after every show to receive copies of his tapes or CDs.

Fifteen years later, I'm holding that CD in my hand.
Joe Williams finally got his act together and recorded his songs about daredevil squirrels, jogging hippies and playing Led Zeppelin backwards. The songs are just as I remembered them (just not all of them, unfortunately) and it's been the same memory trip that is was to see the
Dillon Fence reunion tour in 2004.
Joe's
CD is for sale here, and while it isn't kids music, I can't imagine a kid who wouldn't enjoy the goofiness.

Where's the song about Jell-O Mold Parfait? Where's the ode to Mary Janes? Where's the one about Cezanne, Father of Cubism?
Am I thinking of the wrong guy?
That's the guy. I'd forgotten the Jell-O Mold Parfait song -- I was remembering the Wayne Train and Suckerfish songs.
