I'm up to something

Jake and I used to take a lot of walks around the neighborhood. Pretty much all over and around it. So, today I strapped Sophie into the backpack carrier and the three of us took off. We walked behind the nearby church, and when he saw something run into the woods, he went after it. With adventure in my shoes and a baby on my back, we followed him.

Coming out of the woods a few minutes later, we were confronted by a woman with her arms crossed. I'd met this woman once before -- she owns the day care next to the church and had once accused Jake of scaring the kids (it was after hours, so there were no kids around). This time, she had a different accusation:

"What were you doing in there?"

"Walking my dog."

"No you weren't. You're up to something. Those are my woods."

"No they aren't."

"I planted these trees so people would know it's my property. I know you're doing something in there."

"Yes, I'm out for a walk with my daughter and my dog."

"People don't go for walks around here."

And so on, one nutty statement after another. Eventually, I walked away saying that if she finds out what I'm up to, please let me know. Her parting words were that if anything happens to her, she has me on videotape.
