Success

I think we had our breakthrough moment last night. I was playing the jumping game where I bounce Sophie up in the air and Lisa watches from a few feet away so she doesn't get freaked out. Lisa has been making a conscious effort not to push the situation by doing anything that would provoke a reaction. Last night, though, Lisa decided to join in the bouncing game by giving Sophie a small kiss on the foot after each bounce.

You would think Lisa was the sun itself. Suddenly, Sophie's face was exploding with smiles and giggles, and each kiss only brought on more. I'm not sure if Lisa could see, but I was tearing up. This is what we'd waited three long days for. I still had to be the one to put Sophie down for bed, but it was a start.

All kids go through stages of which parent they like. Kiki loved me, then Alica, then me...it's nutty. And with an adoption, I'm sure it's just more of that. I wouldn't worry a bit!

Congratulations again, and we can't wait to see you back in Charlotte soon!
