I haven't written much lately about the adoption and what's new in the process, so here goes:
Not much.
Seriously, we're all about sitting on our hands and waiting. Unlike a pregnancy where things get progressively more interesting as the nine months pass, our gestation period is much more front-loaded. The early running-around signing and certifying documents phase gives way to 6 months of butt-scratching, nose-picking and the occasional ear-pulling.
The wait isn't bad for me, but it's excrutiating for Lisa. She sees magic moment videos online and she's ready for hers to happen now. I am too, I suppose, but I'm also enjoying these few months of light work and nice weather. After this, everything changes.
Our next phase begins sometime mid-October when we get referrals from the Chinese government. Then the information about and pictures of our little girl start coming in and we start planning for a mid-December trip to China -- assuming, of course, that gas hasn't been rationed to the point of non-existence.
So, in the meantime, I stock up on movies for daddy and childrens music for baby. Lisa is spending her time getting the nursery ready, and Jake is oblivious to all except when his next game of Frisbee is.
