That is inexcusable. Yahoo should pull both photos now and apologize. The copy writer and the editor should be dropped off on top of one of these houses in the flood to fend for themselves.
The guy who shot the picture and wrote the cutlines posted something on sportsshooter explaining that, as I understood it, he actually saw the white people find the food. It still stinks, and editors elsewhere still should have been more sensitive, but I think we all need to cut this photographer a break.
This doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as the networks' fixation with the rich white family that spent $3,700 hiring a limo to get them out of NO.
