Extreme Home Makeover: The NoDa Edition

When I last wrote about it, a reality home fixup program had just started taping episodes for a new show on TurnerSouth. The project is really starting to gain steam, as you can see from these pictures: the first is the house as it looked when work began in late December and the second is two months later in late February.

The gist of Home Makers is that two women, Kristin Wells and Jeanene Glander, "take off their aprons and put on tool belts and show the men how it's done." The two hosts and four other female experts remodel the 1905 house from baffles to crawlspace even though they admittedly don't know how to do every part of the project.

Wackiness ensues when someone accidentally installs a Porta-John where the HVAC intake should be. More wackiness when the women must pretend they're lovers so their gruff but lovable landlord can collect a federal minority housing subsidy.

Hey guys,

Great photos! Thanks for posting them. FYI -- I posted about "Home Makers" with a link to your blog over at my reality TV blog: http://www.realityblogs.com/

I don't live in NoDa myself, but I love going down there. I was there last night actually for the gallery crawl. It's a great area!

Shalom,
Steve K.

Hi everybody -

"HOME MAKERS" starts on Turner South on April 11th at 3pm ET.

It's not just 2 women...it's 6 !
plus gal pals...PLUS other women-owned companies that work on the house.

Oh.. and the story about them pretending to be lesbian lovers... oh do tell !! I never heard anything about that ... and I should .
